[DIY] Spike your jacket

Step to Step on how to spike your jacket. It's a simple process.
Step 1: Choose an item of clothing you want to spike.
Step 2: Mark the parts you plan to pierce holes in
Step 3: Use something sharp to pierce hole, force through the screw
Step 4: Just simply screw on the spikes.
Regardless you may think it's not perfect, but its the imperfection that makes the style. Being free with your own design will make it individual. Just a general tip, this jacket took about 150 spikes, if you plan to spike something, make sure to buy alot of spikes, rather than having an unlooked finished like you ran out of some. My further plans for this jacket is to add alot of studs. It's a future investment and a great style that is custom made to your own style. Afterall, its just accessories that give a bit more style to your average clothing. There is loads of styles, studding and spikes alike, just depends on your budget and style liking. I can't recommend an online website, or an ebay link as I brought a bulk from a store in London.

Lulu Liu Pre Collection Shoot

I had the privilege of shooting Designer Lulu Liu's Pre Collection 2012 with model Emily Brooks. No surprise it was raining a few weeks ago, but I used it to my advantage and created some of my most amazing photographs yet.  Using Fashitect's as an influence of street fashion photography, and architecture with the perspective and modernistic glass office buildings as the backdrop.

An early morning trip to Portobello Market, scourging the endless amounts of Antiques and Vintage bargains. A place of tourists, historic treasures and a hell lot of walking. It has been several years since I have worn trainers outside, a comfortable pair walking along the long portobello road and back. Going for the casual appearance to my outfit, with the complimentary and similar tones of grey and blue. I particularly like the printed detail shirt of paisley patterns against the grey blazer over the shoulders.  The glasses were purchased in the market, and is my newest pair of sunglasses I love out of all my collection of sunnies. My problem with my previous glasses is that they broke during different occasions, purchasing a cheap pair, and easily replacing them once broken is not a problem anymore.

[LB] The National History Museum

You have probably seen the National History Museum for yourself, but it was actually my first ever time here. Amazed by the breath taking Architecture, everywhere you looked was an angle to capture. There is perhaps so much you can photograph that gives you the atmosphere of historic design. From the preserved dinosaur skeletons & ancient pieces of art, I felt like i was in the caveman age. A kid shouted Indian Jones, so I guess i dressed right for this occasion. The whole colour palette for choosing my outfit came from the tones in the shirt. The brick vintage print varying from beige, browns and blacks, was an ideal coordination to my look. For the jacket which was once my brothers from the 1990's, I reversed the Calvin Klein jacket outside inside, only seeing the tailored detail instead of one colour block. The use of segmented colours is something you will be seeing a lot of. The contrasting tones in both Architecture and my outfit is a playful scene, I call Fashitects.

I've started building up my photography portfolio, working along side a great team. Here are my selective photographs I have chosen of Model Jasper. Wearing a majority of Jessica Au's designs combined with a few items from my wardrobe. It was surprisingly lucky to have a fairly sunny/ cloudy day shooting at Battersea Park.

[LSF] Lucy Bradley

[Coat] Barbour
It's not everyday you see a girl with a skateboard in her hands, challenging the typical stereotype of skaters. I had noticed Lucy whilst skate boarding at South Bank, with a casual and laid back presence. I particularly liked her style, combining earthy and beige tones to her outfit. Perhaps her particular choice of outfit looks effortless, the oversized chestnut brown barbours jacket is no doubt her dads, overlapping the laced skirt, and knitwear sweater.

Tugendhat House Model

Im an Architecture student at University and here are my photographs for creating The Tugendhat house model. Designed by Mies Van der Rohe in 1985, an influence on the modern movement style of architecture and furniture designs. The start of my Tugendhat Journey for Techtonic's assignment, showing the structure and spatial experiences of the rooms. This does not include glass, windows, furniture and everything you would see in the typical house. just the materials used to build the house and connections of spaces between them.
Just an update on my Architecture Posts will be coming up soon of my second year of work. So stayed tuned for the Architecture Tab in the coming posts.

Jones Sewing Machine

I came about finding the right Antique sewing machine, a piece of history beauty for such a great purchase at my local car boot sale. As much as it appears to look amazing, its just as functional without the need of today's electricity. Unravelling little notes, instructions and the original scripts for the sewing machine, it dated in the 1934's when it was signed. As you may have seen many models such like this Jones, such alike Singer machines were made with number coded tags as a reference to the amount dedicated to the Queen at the time. The practicality of a hand sewing machine that still works today after being just brought down from the woman's grandparents attic after 30 years, shall be kept in good hands. I shall be altering a lot of my clothes and perhaps creating my own designs in the near future.

Qulit Event

I had the privilege of meeting designer Reena Aris of Qulit at her Collection Preview Event. Talking to the delightful entrepreneurial Business woman and fashion designer, she showcased and introduced her origin backgrounds of Malaysia and interpreted her roots into her visionary items of clothing. With studs, spikes and leather as the current trend, Qulit designs steps their region of work, with a fresher interpretation of textured prints and bolder colourful tones. Using Lambskin leather, python detailing and methods of embossing crocodile expression. One such like this Jacket above uses python, materialised symmetrically and fragmented into the asymmetric biker's vest style jacket. The surprising factor is she only just started entering the world of design in February this year and is ready to excel towards designing her next collection.

Wardrobe Update

Perhaps my wardrobe is getting out of hand, but it was worse before. I do have an unseen wardrobe that has more shirts, jumpers and unwanted jackets that may be up for sale. There is so much I can wear and share, some of which is seen on my lookbook, as for the rest of the outfit posts to come. Time and my shopping addiction will only tell how much clothes I will have in a few years. Looking at next years collections, its something I am looking forward to, as for the current shopping sales I will have to pass and constrain my credit card for now. I will be sharing a few DIY and twists to my jacket designs with my new antique sewing machine I recently purchased.
